During the installation of new dashboard, we encountered a type of lockout in the Body Control Module (BCM) in some series of Ford Focus Mk4. This lockout treats a higher power form one source as an error and cuts off power, disabling the ambient lighting when the engine is started. This lock engage after we added more than footwells, door handles, door pockets or even door stripes. We did not saw such limitation in multicolor ambient light system.
We tested several possibilities and found a solution of splitting the power source and achieving the same end result by taking power for dashboard from the emergency button illumination. This solutions cover such issue in all model of mk4 and mk4.5 with single-color (ice-blue shade). Thus we deiceded to change the wirning concept in dashboard LED stripe sets, besided mulitcolor, which stay as extended from front footwell.
Dividing the power source for the ambient lighting system is safe and easy to apply, allow to create a simpler installation concept, keep the same expected final efffect and it is a remedy for BCM blocking ts.
For all dashboard sets, we are recommended to connect it with above descibed method. However If you are adding any new ambient light points and you found similar lockout result please contact us and we will find solutions for you.
