THE DRIVER AMBIENT HANDLE (without lock/unlock button)

In April '21, Ford moved the central locking control from the door handle to the door control panel. This change requires a different power supply and wiring concept. Thanks to patience and relentlessness in the search for a solution, we managed to jointly develop a model of the driver's door mood lighting installation for Ford Focus produced after April 21.

THE CONNECTION CONCEPT

In case study mode, we noticed that removing the button from the driver's door handle did not change the driver's door module (DDM). The sockets powering the button in the door handle stayed free and powered, so they are perfect to use for the door lighting concept.

THE WIRING

The wiring concept is based on two independent harnesses (3A and 3B), where the 3A harness is mounted to the door harness and the 3B harness to the door panel. To get the necessary +12V insert the terminals from 3A into the DDM's correct sockets.

Before installing the terminals in free sockets, it is required to remove the white plastic cover from the front gray DDM plug, because it protects the replacing the terminals.

HINT! After installing the 3A harness, we recommend that you do the checkpoint by installing the 3A+3B+lamp

When all is working correctly install harness 3B in the door panel, and connect the installed door pocket lighting lamp and the lamp in the replaced door handle.

The passenger's side (SHOTGUN SIDE) installation of door handle lights is the same regardless of the car's year or steering variant (LHD / RHD).
